UK clocks back: first night BPO drop check
UK clocks went back this morning. Before the first night BPO shift on winter time, check route times, driver names, the app stops and every drop after midnight.

UK clocks went back at 2 am London time this morning, so tonight is the first night BPO shift on winter time. Every UK-facing shift now ends one hour later in Dhaka. Before the first pickup, check four things: route times in the app, a named driver per late drop, the stops, and drops now after midnight.
Key takeaways
Tonight's UK shifts end one hour later in Dhaka than they did on Saturday.
The risk is the drop, not the pickup: drivers rostered for the old finish time.
US campaigns are unchanged tonight. Their clocks go back on Sun 7 Nov 2027.
Which shifts are affected tonight?
Times below use the 24-hour clock.
Every shift tied to London time. Dhaka is now six hours ahead of London, up from five. GOV.UK confirms 31 Oct 2027 as the day clocks went back.
UK shift (London) | Dhaka, last night | Dhaka, tonight |
|---|---|---|
13:00 – 22:00 | 18:00 – 03:00 | 19:00 – 04:00 |
15:00 – 00:00 | 20:00 – 05:00 | 21:00 – 06:00 |
17:00 – 02:00 | 22:00 – 07:00 | 23:00 – 08:00 |
If your client kept Dhaka hours fixed, nothing moved for you. Check the client's email before you change anything. If you planned this last week with our UK clock change plan, tonight is just the check.
What should you check in the next two hours, from 6:30 pm?
Do it in this order. It starts at the end of the night, because that's where things fail.
6:30 pm: read tonight's drop list. For each UK route, write the new office leave time next to the old one. Any drop now after 2 am gets a star.
6:45 pm: call the fleet's duty person. Read out each starred drop. Ask for the driver's name. "We'll manage" is not a name.
7:00 pm: check the route times agents see. Open each UK route and confirm the pickup and leave times are tonight's, not last week's.
7:15 pm: check stops. A stop that's busy at 1 am may be empty and dark at 2 am. If a stop worries you, move the drop to the gate or the main road for tonight.
7:30 pm: message the team leads. They tell agents at shift start. Agents trust their team lead faster than a notice.
7:45 pm: check one US route. Make sure nobody moved it by mistake.
Agents read times on their phones, not in your email. In VMS, a business transport marketplace in Bangladesh, each Pick & Drop route stores its own arrive and leave times, and the app shows the moving vehicle half an hour ahead of pick-up. Fix the route, and every phone follows.
What message should agents get?
Team leads can read this at shift start, or post it in the team group:
UK clocks went back last night. Our shift ends at 4 am Dhaka time tonight, not 3 am. Your drop leaves the office at 4:10 am from the usual gate. You can follow the vehicle in the app before it arrives. If it isn't there by 4:20, call the floor transport desk, not the driver.
Change the times to match your campaign. Keep the last line. One number for problems stops twenty calls to one driver.
Why do first nights go wrong?
The plan is usually fine. Small handovers fail.
The fleet updated the roster but the night dispatcher didn't see it.
A driver who does the 2 am drop has another job at 3 am.
Route times changed in an email, not in the app.
A security guard locks the side gate at 2:30 am, as on every other night.
US routes were moved one week early along with UK ones.
Symptom at 3 am | Likely cause | Fix tonight |
|---|---|---|
No vehicle at the gate | Driver kept the old finish time | Call the fleet's duty person; use the backup driver |
Vehicle came an hour early, left empty | Driver had the old time | Ask the fleet to send it back; log it for the bill review |
Agents at a locked gate | Building schedule unchanged | Move tonight's drop to the main gate |
US agents waiting an hour early | US route moved by mistake | Restore the US time; resend to agents |
What if a drop goes wrong anyway?
Fix the agent's ride first. Paperwork comes in the morning.
Get the agent home: the backup driver, a second route vehicle, or a Scheduled Ride if your company uses them for exceptions.
If an agent feels unsafe at any point, the SOS button in the app rings 999 and warns company, fleet and VMS together.
In the morning, raise a complaint on the trip. The fleet resolves it, and the record stays with the leg.
For the US version of tonight, see our checklist for the first night after the US clock change. It applies again next Sunday.
Set one recurring reminder for the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October, and another for the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November. Four dates a year, every year. That's the whole clock-change calendar for a UK and US BPO.
What happens next week?
On Sunday 7 Nov, US clocks go back. Then US-facing shifts also move one hour later in Dhaka. After that, both campaigns are on winter time until March. The US and UK roster post explains how the two changes stack. New to running night routes? Start with the staff transport guide for HR.
Did UK clocks go back on 31 Oct 2027?
Yes. They went back one hour at 2 am London time, from BST to GMT.
Do UK BPO shifts end later in Dhaka now?
Yes, by one hour, unless your client fixed the shift in Dhaka time.
When do US clocks go back in 2027?
On Sunday 7 Nov 2027. US-facing shifts move one hour later in Dhaka from that night.
What should we do if tonight's drop vehicle doesn't come?
Call the fleet's duty person and use the backup driver or another route vehicle. Log the problem on the trip the next morning.
Keep night routes right on every agent's phone
Run BPO Pick & Drop on VMS. Route times agents can see, live vehicles before pick-up, and SOS on every trip.
